Keep Kansas Courts Fair and Impartial
The mission of the Kansas Fair Court Fund is to promote fair, impartial, and independent courts in Kansas.
We are committed to strengthening trust in the judicial system by ensuring Kansans understand the vital role courts play in upholding justice and the rule of law, free from political influence.
Merit Selection
Kansas is lucky to have a transparent, fair, and impartial court system where Justices are selected based on merit, not political parties or promises. A nonpartisan commission recommends three qualified candidates to the Governor, who appoints one to the bench. Justices then stand for retention every six years.
Despite this fair system, the legislature continues to push attacks on the courts. In the past year alone, the legislature has launched numerous attacks on the court, including a constitutional amendment for the direct election of Justices, which will appear before Kansas voters in August 2026.
Kansas continues to see more robust and better-financed attacks on the fair and impartial judiciary. Our courts are at stake, and we need support to defend the bench from these attacks.
